I was first introduced to this anime through my cousin, she showed me at first YouTube videos of the parodies of the show. Which are, Abridge On Titan, I would really recommend watching the parodies after the first 5 episodes or so. I became more interested in viewing the real show and it this anime was the first one I have ever finished watching. BTW the Subbed version is the only on available.
After watching the first episode I was hooked. The beginning scenes set up the story and build up the hype of this adventure. Through showing how humans have become caged in the walls from the Titans and what these creatures have done to humans and their beliefs( Wall Worshippers believe in the protection of the walls and that they should never be changed). Our main characters are Eren(a boy who dreams of killing Titans), Mikasa (adopted and overprotective sister of Eren) and Armin(A very weak but inspirational boy who looks like He-Man). Death and hope of one day beating the Titans is demonstrated throughout the show. Seeing what humans have done to fight of the Titan forces and the sacrifices made in order to protect the weak. I would really recommend watching this anime if you like, action, suspense, and can sustain a bit of violence and blood. 10/10 in my book.

You should watch the Parodies on YouTube. I also felt the same about the emotional drag especially episodes after 13.
